Edcast is both a standalone program and a Winamp plugin. You can configure Edcast standalone to rip audio channels from your Soundcard: in this way you will be able to stream audio from any program running on your PC.

This Tutorial explains how to configure the Edcast plugin for Winamp.

Please, note that you can use an external tools only if you are a Pro user.

Step 1 - Download and Install Winamp

  1. Download Winamp from (Free download)
  2. Install Winamp following the prompts

Step 2 - Install the Edcast DSP Plugin

  1. Download the Edcast DSP Plugin here

During the installation process, Edcast DSP will ask you which encoder options you wish to install. You will need to install the AAC Encoder, following the process that will appear on screen: Download libfaac.dll and copy it in Winamp's folder.

Step 3 - Start the Edcast DSP Plugin

  1. Now start Winamp and enter the plugin configuration options screen (Ctrl-K or right click on the player and choose 'Select plug-in').
  2. Select DSP/Effect from the list on the left and click once on edcast DSP v3.
  3. In the Edcast configuration window click on add encoder.
  4. Once an encoder appears, double click on it to enter the settings window.
  5. In the settings window enter the following options:
    Quality: 80 (if your computer is slow you might want to set this lower)
    Samplerate: 44100
    Channels: 2
    Encoder Type: AAC
    Server Type: Icecast2
    Server IP:
    Server port: 443
    Encoder Password: your spreaker password
    Mountpoint: /user/<user_id> (the user_id is a numeric unique identifier of your account)
  6. Now select the YP Settings button and enter the title of the episode you are broadcasting in the "Stream Name" field.
  7. Finally, click "OK" to close the configuration window.

You're now ready to broadcast!
